Running a server
Setting up the bot
Adding BrawlScrims to a server, what setup creates, and the dashboard.
This page takes a server owner from nothing to a working queue. It takes a few minutes.
Who can set it up
You need to own the server or have the Manage Server permission. Once the bot is in, anyone with the Scrim Manager role can use the dashboard too.
Step by step
- Sign in on this website with Discord.
- Add the bot. The home page lists the servers you manage. Press Add bot next to the one you want. Every server gets 14 days of the paid tier free.
- Open Setup in the dashboard. Choose ranked queues, casual queues or both, whether players have to verify, how rank roles are created, and which extra channels you want.
- Press Set it up. The bot creates the roles and channels. You can run it again later to add anything that's missing. It also saves the choices on the form again, so check them first.
- Hand out staff roles. Give Scrim Manager to people who run the server and Scrim Supervisor to people who look after matches. See Every role explained.
- Tell your players. Point them at the queue channel, or at How a scrim works.
What setup creates
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Scrim Manager and Scrim Supervisor roles | Your two levels of staff |
| Verified role | Given to players who link their Brawl Stars account |
| Scrim Banned role | Put on players while they're banned from scrims |
| Queue channels | One per queue, in a Ranked Queues or Casual Queues category |
| #scrim-results | Every finished match is posted here |
| #leaderboard | The server's leaderboard. The bot posts it right after setup and keeps it up to date. |
| #brawlscrims-logs | The log channel, for staff actions and cases. Only staff and the bot can see it. Servers set up before it had this name have #mod-logs, which works the same. |
| #party-queue-confirm | Where party members confirm before queueing together |
| Rank roles | Made as players reach each rank, unless you choose to make them all at once or not to use them |
| Trophy roles | Only if you tick them. Paid tier. |
If the bot says it can't see the log channel, give the bot's role View Channel in that channel, or delete the channel and run setup again.
Match channels are made in a Scrim Matches category when a match starts, and deleted once it's over.
More queues, each with its own format
Every queue is its own channel. To add one, make a channel and run
!setup Name in it, or !setup casual Name for a casual
queue. Or pick the channel under Add a queue on the dashboard's Live page.
The free plan has one ranked and one casual queue. The paid plan has as many
as you like.
Each queue can have its own format, so one server can run 1v1 best of 3 in one channel and 3v3 best of 5 in another:
- Size. Anything from 1v1 to 5v5.
- Length. Best of 1, 3 or 5.
- Ranked or casual. Anyone already waiting keeps their place, and matches being played aren't affected.
Change them on the dashboard's Live page, or type !queue inside the
queue channel with the words you want, in any order: !queue 1v1 bo3,
!queue casual. !queue default puts the size and length back
on the server's settings, which are 3v3 and best of
5 unless you change them under Settings. !queue on its own
shows the queue's format.
The dashboard
| Page | What it's for |
|---|---|
| Overview | Your plan and recent activity |
| Setup | Run setup, and reset the bot. Channels and roles the bot uses points the bot at your own channels and roles. |
| Live | Queues and matches right now. Add a queue or remove one. Rename, close or clear a queue, give it its own size, length or maps, or switch it between ranked and casual. |
| Players | Find a player and fix their rating or record. Lift bans, choose whose nickname the bot leaves alone, and back up, restore or reset everyone's ratings. |
| Season | Where the season stands. Start the first one, end one early, see who would get the Season Top roles, and see past seasons. Close or reopen every queue at once. |
| Branding | Your colour, league name, logo and banner. Each queue can have its own look too. |
| Rules | Write the rules players see with /rules |
| Maps | The server's map pool. A queue given its own maps on the Live page plays those instead. |
| Clans | Look after every clan in the server |
| Tournaments | Build and run tournaments |
| Features | Turn whole systems on or off, such as clans, seasons or staff duty, and choose which player commands work. The public leaderboard and its invite link are here too. |
| Settings | Timers, queue size, rating tuning and more |
| Logs | Every staff action and every match. Flip or undo a ranked result from here (Paid). |
Commands in Discord
Staff commands that start with ! are typed as normal messages. You can
change the ! to something else with /setprefix. Player
commands are slash commands and don't change.
Starting over
At the bottom of the Setup page is Reset the bot. It takes the server back to before the bot was set up, so you can start again from nothing.
| Result | What it covers |
|---|---|
| Deleted | Every role the bot made: rank, trophy, staff, Off Duty, Verified, Scrim Banned, clan roles, and Season Top roles. Every channel and category it made: queue channels wherever they are, match channels, clan chats, #scrim-results, #leaderboard, the log channel and #party-queue-confirm. |
| Reset | Every setting back to its default, including features, the prefix, branding, rules and the map pool. Every player's rating and record go back to the start, and the season and past seasons are cleared. Ratings are backed up first, so they can be restored. |
| Kept | Your plan or trial, match history, warnings, clans and tournaments. |
Only the server owner or an Administrator can reset, and you type the server's name to confirm. Deleted roles and channels can't be brought back.
!resetbot in Discord does less. It deletes the same roles and channels
and forgets the queues and the channel links, but it keeps the server's settings,
the branding and every rating. Use it to rebuild the roles and channels. Use Reset the bot on the
dashboard to start again from nothing.
