Running a server
Every role explained
Each role the bot uses, who gets it, what it allows and when it appears.
BrawlScrims uses a handful of roles. Some are made at setup, some appear the first time they're needed, and one you choose yourself. Here is every one of them.
Staff roles
| Role | For | What it allows |
|---|---|---|
| Scrim Manager | People who run the server | Everything: setup, queues, settings, seasons, ratings, clans, tournaments and the dashboard. A Manager can also use every Supervisor command. The server owner and anyone with Administrator or Manage Server count as a Manager without the role. |
| Scrim Supervisor | People who look after matches | Settle disputed results, warn and ban players, keep notes, clear a queue and adjust ratings by hand. No setup and no settings. |
| Scrim Manager Off Duty and Scrim Supervisor Off Duty | Staff taking a break | Only used when the Staff duty feature is on.
Staff switch with !duty off and !duty on. Off duty,
they keep every power and can still see match channels, lobby and tournament
match channels and the log channel. Off-duty Managers still see clan chats. The only
thing they lose is staff pings. |
You don't need to make the Off Duty roles. The bot makes both as soon as Staff duty
is turned on, from the dashboard's Features page or !panel, in the
same colours as the staff roles. If it can't then, it makes each one the first time
someone goes off duty. For that, the bot needs Manage Roles, and its role must sit
above the staff roles. If the log channel was made before these roles, run Setup again with
the log channel ticked so off-duty staff can still see it.
A server that already has either Off Duty role can keep using !duty
without turning the feature on. !duty swaps a role, so it only works
for people with the Scrim Manager or Scrim Supervisor role. The server owner and
people with Administrator or Manage Server but no staff role can't use it.
More on what each can do in Staff powers.
Player roles
| Role | Who has it | How it's given |
|---|---|---|
| Verified | Players who linked their Brawl Stars account | Automatically, by /verify. Made at setup. |
| Scrim Banned | Players with an active scrim ban | Added when a ban starts and removed when it ends. Made at setup. |
| Queue ping role | Players who want to hear when a queue is nearly full | Staff choose which role it is. Players pick it up however your server hands out roles. |
Want the bot to use roles you already have? Pick them on the dashboard's Setup page, under Channels and roles the bot uses. That works for Verified, Scrim Banned and every rank role. A role with staff powers can't be picked.
Rank roles
One role per rank. A player holds only the role for their current rank, and the bot swaps it when they move.
| Rank | Rating |
|---|---|
| Wood | 0 to 999 |
| Bronze | 1000 to 1199 |
| Silver | 1200 to 1399 |
| Gold | 1400 to 1599 |
| Diamond | 1600 to 1799 |
| Champion | 1800 to 1999 |
| Grandmaster | 2000 and up |
By default, rank roles aren't made at setup. The bot makes each one the first time a player reaches that rank, so a rank nobody has reached yet has no role. At setup you can choose to make them all straight away, or not to use rank roles.
Trophy roles
Roles based on a player's trophies in Brawl Stars, for players who linked their account: 10k Trophies, 20k Trophies and so on up to 100k, then every 50k up to 350k Trophies. A player holds only their highest one. Trophy roles are part of the paid tier.
Season rewards
Only if the Season Top roles feature is on. It's off by default, and staff switch it on in the dashboard's Features page. When a season ends, the top 10 get Season 1 Top 1 through Season 1 Top 10, with the season's number. Each server numbers its own seasons, and sets how many players get a role. When a server starts its first season, the best players just before it get Beta Top roles. If the server already has old roles like Season 3 Top 1, its first season is numbered after the highest one, here Season 4, and no Beta Top roles are given. Players keep these roles for good. They're part of the paid tier.
Clan roles
A clan with 8 or more members gets a role called Clan [TAG]. It opens the clan's private text and voice channels. If the clan drops below that size, its owner gets a message. If it is still too small 7 days later, the role and channels are deleted.
