Seasons
Each server's own race: how long it lasts, what a reset keeps, and the Season Top roles.
Seasons give everyone a fresh race, without wiping ratings back to the start. Each server runs its own seasons, with its own season numbers and dates. Starting or ending a season in one server never changes another. Seasons are part of the paid tier.
The first season
Nothing happens until a Scrim Manager runs !startseason. That starts
the server's first season, Season 1. Every rating goes back to the server's
starting rating, 1000 unless the server changed it, and season stats go back
to zero. Ratings are backed up first, so a Manager can undo it with
!restoreelo. If Season Top roles are on, the 10 best players
just before the reset get pre-season roles: Beta Top 1 through Beta Top
10, unless the server named them differently. After that, each new
season starts on its own when the last one ends.
Rank roles come off everyone when the first season starts. You get the right one back after your first ranked match of the season.
If your server already has old roles like Season 3 Top 1, its first season is numbered after the highest one, here Season 4. No Beta Top roles are given then.
How long a season lasts
A season lasts 60 days unless the server changed its season length. A
change applies from the next season, so the current season keeps the end date
players have already seen. /seasoninfo shows the current season and
when it ends. The countdown is also on the leaderboard and on your profile
card.
The bot checks for finished seasons once an hour, so a season can end up to an hour
after its end date. A Scrim Manager can also end a season early with
!endseason confirm, or with the End Season button on the dashboard's
Season page. !endseason on its own only shows what will happen.
The next season starts straight away.
What happens when a season ends
- Ratings are pulled back toward the server's starting rating. By default you keep 50% of your lead: with a starting rating of 1000, someone on 1600 drops to 1300. Good players stay ahead, but by less. Servers can keep more or less, right down to putting everyone back on the starting rating.
- Season stats reset. Wins, losses, MVPs and your current streak go back to zero, and your next 10 matches are placements again.
- Rank roles come off. Everyone loses their rank role. You get the right one back after your first ranked match of the new season.
- All-time records stay. A new season never resets your peak rating or your best streak.
- Your rating history is kept.
/graphwith a season number shows how your rating moved in a past season.
If seasons are turned off
A server with seasons turned off, or without the paid tier, is never reset. Its season doesn't end and its countdown is hidden. If the end date passes in that time, the season ends within an hour of seasons being back on.
Starting again
Resetting the bot from the dashboard clears the server's season, along with every
rating. Nothing runs until a Scrim Manager uses !startseason
again.
Season Top roles
If a server turns on Season Top roles, the 10 best players at the end of a season each get a permanent role for where they finished: Season 1 Top 1 through Season 1 Top 10, with the season's number. They're off by default. Staff switch them on in the dashboard's Features page.
Each server sets how many players get one, and can rename them, recolour them and
give them icons, on the dashboard's Settings page. A name is a pattern with
{season} and {place} in it, so
S{season} Champion #{place} gives S3 Champion
#1. A change only affects roles given from then on; roles players already won
keep their name.
