How-to

Fix a wrong result or a player's rating

Take back rating changes after a wrong vote, and correct one player's rating, record or peak.

If the match is still open, use /setresult instead. See Settle a stuck or disputed match.

Undo or flip a result

Staff can change a ranked result in three places. Players never see these buttons, so a result doesn't look like it might be taken away.

  • The log channel. After each ranked match, the bot posts Flip result and Undo result there for that match.
  • The dashboard. On the Logs page, every ranked match's line has the same two buttons (Paid).
  • A command. Type !undoresult 214 or !flipresult 214 with the match number.

All three ask first. When a result changes, the bot says so in the results channel, so players know.

  • Undo takes back every rating change, win, loss and MVP bonus from the match, as if it was never played.
  • Flip gives the win to the other team: winners lose what they gained, losers gain what they lost, and any MVP bonus is taken back.

Rank roles update by themselves, and /history marks the match. A result can be changed once, and only in the season it was played. Streaks and peaks go back too, unless the player has played again since.

Undo a result by hand

For an older match whose buttons are gone, or one from an earlier season:

  1. Find what each player got. The result post in #scrim-results lists each player's change, with their old and new rating. Or run /history player:@name.
  2. Take back the rating (Scrim Supervisor or Manager). For each player who gained, run !eloremove @player 18 with their gain. For each player who lost, run !eloadd @player 15 with their loss. The rank role updates by itself.
  3. Check for an MVP. The MVP bonus is not in the result post. It was only announced in the match channel. The MVP can be on either team. When the match channel is deleted, its transcript goes to the log channel, and it shows the MVP message too. The message says how much it was: 10 unless the server changed it, split between MVPs who tied. Take it back with !eloremove too.
  4. Fix wins, losses and streak (Scrim Manager). For each player wrongly given the win, run /setrecord player:@name wins:-1 streak:-1. For each player given the loss, run /setrecord player:@name losses:-1. A plain number sets the value, +N adds, -N takes away. Fill only the fields you change. The loss set those players' streak to 0. If you know the old streak, set it back, for example streak:3.
  5. Fix the peak (Scrim Manager). A wrong win or an MVP bonus may have set a new peak. !fixpeak @player reset makes the peak equal the current rating. If you know the old peak, give it instead: !fixpeak @player 1450.

On the web, a Scrim Manager can do steps 2 to 5 in one go. Open the dashboard's Players page, find the player and press Open. Fix the ELO, Wins, Losses, Win streak and Peak ELO boxes, then press Save stats. Type the number you want, not the change: 1182, not -18. For ELO, the old rating from the result post also takes back an MVP bonus. If they played again since, start from their current ELO instead: take off what they gained, or add back what they lost.

Fix one player

  • On the Players page, open the player and change any box (Scrim Manager). A new ELO also moves their rank role. Peak ELO can't be lower than ELO.
  • !eloset @player 1200 sets a rating (Scrim Supervisor or Manager).
  • /setrecord changes wins, losses, rating and streak at once (Scrim Manager).
  • !eloreset @player starts them over (Scrim Manager). Their rating and peak go back to the starting rating, 1000 unless the server changed it. Wins, losses, streaks and MVPs go to 0. Their placement matches start over too.

Check your work with /profile view player:@name.

Things that catch people out

  • Any raise also raises the player's peak, even a joke !eloset. For one player, only !fixpeak, !eloreset or the Peak ELO box on the Players page brings it down.
  • A wrong win may also raise the best win streak, and an MVP adds to the MVP count. For one player, only !eloreset lowers those.
  • Always @mention the player with !eloadd, !eloremove, !eloset, !fixpeak and !eloreset. A user ID doesn't work.
  • /setrecord only works on players who are still in the server. The Players page works for anyone with a record here.
  • Changing wins or losses sets matches played to wins plus losses, so draws drop out of the count.
  • /history keeps showing the old result.
  • No command works out what the right team should have gained. Undo the change first, then staff decide. If they agree the other team really won, give those players wins:+1 with /setrecord and the rating staff agree on with !eloadd.

Need to fix everyone at once? See Back up ratings and undo a reset.
